Default OT: Neve operation and reference manual

Anyone know of any online or other source to find an operation and reference/users manual for older neve consoles?

I doubt you'll find any of the older manuals anywhere except at studios which have the older Neve consoles.. and most have changed hands quite a few times.. and the manuals are uually in bad condition. The studios are also unlikely to let a stranger just go through them.

My friend's stiudio has 2 old Neves and they have the manuals.. what exactly are you wanting to know.. operation is pretty simple and straight forward -- and any 2 may have subtle differences as they've probably been modified over the years or may have been built custom for the original location.

You may want to check out Geoff Tanner's web site (Aurora Audio).. he used to work for Neve in their schematics dept. I believe.

Rail,

Yeah, I realize that any documentation for them is hard to find. Especially the older consoles. Some of the studio owners I know treat whatever documentation is available like the holy grail. Its understandable.

This was really just an exercise in doing some extra 'homework' for some upcoming sessions. I know the operation is as straight forward as any other console. I've worked on them before. I'm really trying to see if there are any additional aspects/qualities that I should know about the neve family of consoles. I'm trying to be sure I know as much as I can about them going into this session...

Thanks for the link I will check it out,

-Rich
