Default Pro Tools 12.12 and 12.10

Have just bought download version of Pro Tools. In my Avid master account I have the option of downloading Pro Tools 12.12 AND Pro Tools 12.10. Do I need to download both or only the latest version? And while we're at it, do I need the HD drivers?

You can download 2019.12 and if you dont have Avid HD digilink interfaces like HDN pcie/thunderbolt or Hdx you do not install HD driver. Only either .12 or. 10 version and .12 is Catalina ready. 2019.10 is up to Mojave.

I notice in your profile you are on a PC. Both of these Pro Tools versions will run on Windows 10.

Both versions are full installers. In fact, I think Avid has done away with updates that require a previous install. My 2 cents; download both versions, but only install 12.12(and move installers onto a backup or external drive). If version 12.12 doesn't work right, you can uninstall it and try 12.10 to see if it works better. I save almost EVERYTHING I download(so I don't need to download again in the future)

Thanks guys (Tom@Metro, Albee1952 and Southsidemusic). Sorry, I've been offline since posting. Your replies are really helpful. I dumbly assumed that everyone wants the latest update and that there would not be such a bunch of possibities to choose from. Who is Catalina, by the way?... We've never met, hehe. Tomorrow morning I'll restart the whole process. I'm assuming the new version of Pro Tools will load over my current Pro Tools 10 and that I don't need to disinstall... Thanks for your help to this needy newb.

Well if you are on a PC you need to uninstall first. On mac just run the installer BUT on PC not so much.

Been running 2019.12 for a week HARD! No issues at all! Still running the latest version of Mojave. Just finished a big scoring, sound mix gig and it went super smooth!

I mean that 2019.10 is for mojave and not catalina. We also have Mojave and 2019.12 and even a Trashcan with HS and 2019.12 and runs flawless.

Thanks Christopher. I may well be stupid but is there any documentation I could read about installation rather than wasting everybody's time? Thank you for being my nanny.

That has everything. You'll probably want to start with the Installation Guide and then the Reference

I should mention that after installing Pro Tools, the "Reference", "Keyboard Short Cuts", and "included Plugin" Guides (those are 3 separate guides) are installed and accessible from the Help option on the main toolbar.
