Default Avid 003 v11 Driver

I recently installed the Avid 003 v11 Driver on a Late 2008 Macbook Pro and a Mac Pro 1,1, both non supported configurations. I noticed that when I went to the Activity Monitor and selected to view all Processes and sorted by CPU, I noticed the kernel_task was consistently at 60% and higher when the 003 was being used by core audio or Pro Tools 11. I compared this with an M-audio Profire 2626 driver and interface and the kernel_task was consistently at 10%. I performed both these tests with either the core audio app or Pro Tools 11 sitting idle.

Can someone with a supported system and an Avid 003 Console have a look at their activity monitor when the 003 is being used by a coreaudio app or Pro Tools 11 and report their findings? The app can be sitting idle. I noticed the high CPU activity as soon as the 003 changed from the offline mode. I want to know if this is because my systems are too old for this driver or if the driver in fact is not yet optimized.

Best Regards,

fs

I have the same problem with the damn kernel task on a Late 2011 MBP with 002 rack. The fans start cranking on the most basic sessions so I reverted to the old driver and only use my 002 with PT10...hoping for a driver update.

Thanks for the reply, I too had to revert to my previous working configuration.

In addition, I did use my complimentary ASC code to report this to Avid on 7/20/2013. I requested for them to notify me if they can reproduce this behavior in one of their test labs. Still no reply.

Hi,

I have exactly the same problem here. The 11.0.2 has not resolved.
