Default Miro DC30/DC30+

Are there any differences between the DC30 and DC30+ other than the bundled software? And is it really true that the card is PC _and_ Mac compatible (just a different driver)?

Thanks,

Mike

DC30+ has audio i/o (useless w. PT and pretty buggy as well) and NO ! They DO differ from the PC version (spend weeks with it to figure that one out).
Pinnacle won't even exchange them for Apple-versions, so be carefull....

DC30 also has audio I/O. Last week I was working on a video I had captured first with the DC30. In the afternoon came the dialog editor with a new version of the video captured with his DC30+. His version and my version were both at 320/240 at 700k/sec. I have to admit that the image quality was much better when captured with the DC30+.
I was using my DC30 for playback in both cases.

The premiere version is important. I think it is more reliable to use version 4.2 (you can conform the movies manually) than Premiere 5.xx, were you can have sync problems.

The main differences are that the DC30 only supports 8 bit audio, the plus does 16 bit. The DC30 has a maximum data rate of 3.5Mb/sec the plus has max of around 8Mb/sec.
Both of those datarates are well above the usual 300k/sec to 1Mb/sec datarates that MOST people use when working in PTs.
They both currently work with PT5 and QT4.x, though we have had trouble with certain driver versions and cards. 1.2.1 for plus and 1.1.1 for 30 work here. There are also 2.0 drivers but they require more current hardware and definitley don't work with the DC30. I have stayed clear of those.
