Default What's the cheapeset way to get PT9

All I need to do is some MIDI drum programming away from my HD Native rig. I was thinking PT 9 because I have a spare iLok 1 which I can't use with PT 10.

I'll be using the built in sound card so I don't need an interface. I know I can take my iLok 2 with me and run PT 10, but to be honest I'm likely to leave it behind. If I use PT 9 and my iLok 1 this won't be a problem.

I've been looking around, SE, MP, it's too confusing for me.

I'm 99% sure you can use an Ilok 1 with PT10.

But if not, an inexpensive option would be to get M-Powered 9, which happens to be on sale this month at Guitar Center for $99.

This would give basically PT9, with the 48 track limitation of 8 LE.

The OP wants an extra auth so he doesn't have to move iLoks/carry from one location to the other. N'est pas? The MP option is OK, but he'll have to buy an M-Audio interface also if he doesn't already have one. I don't believe that has the same standalone option as regular PT (same for SE). So there is no 'cheap' way to get another regular (for lack of a better word) copy of PT unless you can find something third party, Ebay, etc. or buy one of the cheaper MP/SE interface packages (note: apparently SE does not have ADC, more like 8LE).

if you have a cheap M-Audio interface - even if it's just a Micro - MP is your cheapest bet. It's $119 on the Avid shop and only $100 at Sweetwater (though they'll send you ANOTHER iLok with these options). Heck given the price of the iLok, you're getting an auth for like $60, pretty good deal.

No, I don't have one. Trying to avoid if possible. Looks like this could be the cheapest option.

Be very careful on Ebay - this stuff is pretty confusing through the regular channels, even more so in the wilds.
