Delay Compensation Red
Trying to figure out why my vocal bus is red while the rest is green.
Is it because all of the vocal tracks are on the right side of the mix window? there are many empy drum/bass/guitar tracks to the left of it that are green. Does Autotune 7 rtas cause this? The vocal tracks have this plug in. the rest dont. Or does any rtas plug have this problem? The only other plugs are mcdsp eq and compressors (tdm) which are on most tracks. Re: Delay Compensation Red
delay is twice the HW Buffer + the delay of the process
Red is indecating that it is over the Delay Comp buffer size or a potential feedback loop in routing (feeding a send on a Delay plug Aux back into it's self) there should be a number on the amount of delay there is on the track

Re: Delay Compensation Red
Thanks Craig, so what do I adjust to resolve this?
This is a mix template Ive been using for years. My workflow has evolved, and a upgrade from PT 8 to 10 since. But Not sure when the red was introduced. Sorry if this seems lazy. My PT attention has waned. |

Re: Delay Compensation Red
Hardware Buffer is under Hardware Setup
if you can keep the RTAS before DPM plugs should help also, you only have to go through the HW Buffer once not twice

Re: Delay Compensation Red
i think craig meant to say "dsp" plugs, not "dpm" (which are the rtas versions),
but point taken; make sure you don't have native>dsp>native chains happening. AT 7 does have a fair amount of delay time; just raise your buffer. if still red you could always print the vox (although here, AT audio suite is broken with pt10hd) i'm curious as to why you show red in your gtr bus. as craig mentioned, you have to watch out for feedback loops, as well as, side chaining can drive up the delay comp as well. but we can't see the rest of you mix screen… and, no, left side, right side don't matter. hmm. Craig also mentioned buffer changes are under hardware set up; they're under playback engine, but after 11,000 + posts, i'd be woozy, too! e

Re: Delay Compensation Red
Funny he shouldn't be in the red with 2000
Did I miss something? Maybe he needs to take his delay comp to the max?

Re: Delay Compensation Red
The shortest delay compensation engine setting is 1023 samples, he should definitely increase it if he's using AT

Re: Delay Compensation Red
thanks for chiming in. I use the short delay comp engine because I often track parts and mix in the same session. I could switch it back and forth if I need the AT plug.
Otherwise I prefer the short delay comp so there's no latency when tracking. |
