Default Volume Automation Bug?

Hi Folks,

I'm experiencing a strange and annoying behaviour:
I have tracks imported from OMF/AVID with clip gain converted to automation. Now, when i go to volume view, select the whole track or just a part and drag it down to lower the level, any 2 breakpoints in a row that were -infinite (e.g. a silenced clip) will become blue +12db breakpoints! (And try to blow my ears away..) Single-infinite breakpoints stay at their value and become blue.
I have seen this in different projects, all on this machine (7.3.1)
What's wrong? Anybody can reproduce this?

Felix

Mac G5 Quad 2,5GHz 2,5GB RAM
PT HD2 7.3.1 (not cs)
Mac OSX 10.4.8

I can't reproduce this - could you possibly send us the OMF that's exhibiting this issue? I can arrange to get you info on how to send it to us via DigiDelivery....

Hello DIGI, I'd really like to help you eliminate this bug, but please tell me how to send you the OMF.

The Problem keeps still coming up on any OMF-imported session with minus-infinite volumes. I have to erase all mistaken breakpoints one by one, that's very time-consuming.

Am I the only one on this?

Bump!
It is still happening!

I have news on this: (I still don't know if ANYBODY is having the same trouble..)

I noticed today that the bug is only happening when changing multiple volume playlists that are GROUPED. Well, i could change the volumes of all tracks one by one so it doesn't occur. It would still affect VCA-grouping: VCA master fader is 0dB, blue breakpoints at -infinite; VCA fader below 0dB , all blue switch to +12dB!

Second condition for the bug is they come from an OMF, I can not say if it's happening on all of them, since not every avid editor is using this kind of "Muting".

cheers, Felix

UPDATE:
I haven't seen the bug for a while which might be because there weren't many "volume mutes" in recent projects.
Today I received a new OMF and theres's lot of volume automation written to minus infinite.

Digi, please help, this is lots of extra work for me!

Felix

Felix -

We got your session and can reproduce what you're seeing. We've logged it for investigation as soon as possible.

That's good news!
You can still have an OMF if you need.
