I got no errors when I mistakenly installed the v12 updates. My only error was not fully reading the issues on the Waves site

Big Sur is noticeably not compatible with computers that old too.

This the sad, unfortunate, problem though. As time goes on older computers get less capable, they fin d it hard to keep up wth their modern counterparts. They sometimes even seem to lack the chipsets to be able to host the new features/refinements.

That's always the problem if you want to continue making steps towards the future and continue improving things. Even if they did make the new software & OSes compatible, the computers joust wouldn't be able to cope with the extra CPU load. You don't get something for nothing, every new advancement is another demand on the CPU/co-processor.

Apple & Waves won't be the only devs discontinuing support, you'll start to see it more widespread, including Windows platforms.

That's good news that finally mac pro 5.1 with Metal GPU is supported. I still thinking about my main mix machine to upgrade or to move to hack (I really worry about that). My 5.1 is very stable I'm on Yosemitte and PT HD 12.4. When I read that Waves v12 are not supported that was +1 to move to new machine, but now maybe I will upgrade GPU and move to Mojave. I will be able to activate my reinstatment plan that I bought almost 1 year ago :)

P.S. I never has any problems with Waves plugins, I only use v.9 (I have some plugs that are only v.11 - waves gave me it for free). For me the backward compatibility is big +. I have problems with iZotope, also they plugins are not backward compatible/not upgradable and I dont want to have so many version of Neutron for example!

Good news is Waves is already functioning well with the M1 chip! Looks incredible already

I think the price for all the Intel Macs will plummet when the news gets out.
