CDR400T not seen by MLCD
I purchased a Yamaha CDR400T as per Digi specs to replace my RCD5040. The CDR400T is not recognized by MLCD. Everything was working fine with the RCD5040, I'm upgrading for 4x writing. the CD writter setup is greyed out. The CDR400T is rcognixed by both FWB mounter and Toast 3.5.1 when I have the driver for toast installed. I've removed the driver so MLCD can see the CDR400T but no luck. Any ideas?

Re: CDR400T not seen by MLCD
Which version of MLCD software do you have? 2.01 is the version that recognizes this CDR.

Re: CDR400T not seen by MLCD
I'm also running firmware 1.0m on the CDR 400T. This is what shipped with the unit and is the most recent version at Yamaha's website. The unit is boxed in a Skydata box but all SCSI polling utilities see it as a Yamaha CDR400T. I noticed that Digi specs firmware 1.0d. I cannot find an old version of the firmware, if that is the problem.
Very frustrating situation here, evry other piece of sftware that I throw at it, see's it. |

Re: CDR400T not seen by MLCD
Im running MLCD 1.4 with the Yamaha CDR400TX, (which is a 400T in a box,) an have never had any problems, so whats all this about V2.01,required is there a bug in 2.0? cos 1.4 was OK.

Re: CDR400T not seen by MLCD
Wayne,
MLCD does not recognize the difference between the internal and external SCSI busses on Macintoshes with the int/ext SCSI bus. Therefore, if your CD writer is using an ID that is the same as a device on the internal bus, it will not be recognized. You may want to double check and make sure that your CD writer does not share an ID with anything on the internal bus. --Steve Rosenthal, Digidesign

Re: CDR400T not seen by MLCD
Joules,
MLCD 2.0.1 is a host-based version of MLCD that runs on PCI PPC Macintoshes. It does not require the presence of any Digidesign hardware to use. --Steve Rosenthal, Digidesign

Re: CDR400T not seen by MLCD
Very interesting point about the SCSI busses and what I would consider a MAJOR part of the set up procedure, Interesting that I didn't see it clearly stated in my documentation???? when I installed it!
Fortunately I was lucky with my ID's but I think it should be made very clear in the documentation, as most people only read deeper when they need to, due to the size of the average manual! (is there a reason MLCD 2.0 doesn't recognise the CDR400 when 1.4 (an older version ) does?) -jn- |

Re: CDR400T not seen by MLCD
Thanks Steve, and exactly right Joules. I finally solved the problem, which was SCSI Id related after paying for tech support. My comment to Brian at Tech was the same as Joules response. I was replacing a RCD5040 drive, so I just installed the CDR400T right where the old drive had been. The drive worked with every bit of CD burning software I've got except MLCD. I always read my install notes and there was nothing about this in there. Anyway Digi burned me for another few bucks, and I was told that they get "lots" of those calls every week. Why would Digi send out a read me file to clarify the situation when they can scam a couple of grand a month through tech support? Oh well, it works now. Thanks for the help.
