Its still not working. I have tried Safari,Firefox on my Mac and with IE on a Windows box and I get the same error. Its a DNS problem I believe.

It appears to be Comcast. I tethered to my iphone and was able to start the download. Comcast must be having some server issues right now. Thanks for the responses.

Default Can't download Pro Tools. Help?

Out of town for a job...having issues and decided to download and reinstall Pro Tools 11.

Log in to my Avid account, find Pro Tools 11 under my products, click the download link, wait...wait...and then Safari finally gives me an error saying it cannot find the server "http://akmedia.digidesign.com"...

Guess I should have brought an extra copy of the install file, but of course I didn't. Any ideas?

Incidentally, nothing else on my account will download either (Read me files, Pro Tools 10, etc.). It's acting as if http://akmedia.digidesign.com is non-existent.

And the problem is possibly at your end, certainly where I would start debugging. The error message certainly looks that way (akmedia.digidesign.com looks alive and well to me).

Who's network are you on? Is there a firewall or are you directly connected? This looks like a DNS error, what DNS server address are you using... is that correct for the network you are on? Can you download any large files from anywhere else. Are you trying to use the Avid download manager or download directly (try directly).

Yes, I've thought of that. However, it's not a problem with the file size. I can download a 2+GB file from toontrack.com. And I don't ever use the download manager, but for some odd reason the Avid site isn't even giving me the option to...

Maybe it's possible there's another way to go about the download on avid.com that I'm not aware of or not remembering correctly?

Start by checking your DNS and other network settings and talking with IT/support if you have any there.

Okay...it did indeed seem to have something to do with my internet access. Just tethered to my iPhone and the download is happening (hello, phone bill).

Thanks and sorry for the false alarm.

Default Re: Avid Downloads NOT working

I have had issues downloading and even signing in to avid's site on different computers. One computer works fine and is consistent, the other will not download programs under my account. Both are Macs. I have found that signing into the forum then browsing over to the avid site from the top of the page works for me for downloads consistently, if that makes any sense.
