Default 2940U2W Question

*** **** ** ** **
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Note: Adaptec 2940UW and 3940UW cards with G4s are unsuitable for full Pro Tools performance. Due to PCI bus related issues the Adaptec 2940UW and 3940UW SCSI HBA cards are unable to provide full Pro Tools performance. Additionally, Adaptec has discontinued these cards, and as a result there will be no future engineering support from Adaptec on these cards.

that is what it say,s in the 5.1.1. docs.....does this include the 2940U2W...I was told this card was Ok but I always get DAE errors.. then I was told to slow the card down to 20 or 10 in the SCSI mode ...but that did not help...and this was with 5.1 not 5.1.1

If anyone could help with this ... a call to Digi was no help ..I felt the guy at Digi on the phone was new and reading from answerbase.....do I need to buy new cards...does Digi not like Adaptec ..where is the Adaptec compatbility list...or are they part owners of ATTO now .

Default Re: 2940U2W Question

I now can answer my own Question... the epic card Takes you back in time ......If I put this card in and take out my fast cards......I will not be able to use Final Cut ..et. et..
This card works ..the epic ..because you can ,and need to slow the burst rate to 32 from 512....it shows DIGI is behind the times and wants us to take out good hardware and go buy obsolete hardware to support Didi's lack of keeping up ...wow....ATTO has a utility that lets you adjust the sync and burst rate...if you must tthrow away yor good Adaptec stuff.. at least tell people they have the option to buy thier fast cards from ATTO and slow them down...so we are not forced into buying obsolete hardware to prtect Digi.s Image...
