Try to demo the Slash models if you can, I like them a lot better than the regular Amplitube Marshalls. That being said, again, this isn't for keeper-tracks 95% of the time...
Got to hand it to you - guts going straight into a JC800 with a P90 on an LP. Do you at least use a noise gate?
And ear plugs?

Excellent contributions folks, really appreciate the discussion.... no prob’s wif the old school sound here..... is why I kinda putting this out there..... hard to find plugins really capturing that era, yeah yeah yeah I hear the purists gringing it’s hard to put a valve, tranny, caps and wot not in a plugin..... I’m with ya fellas, I have three git amps Marshall, blackstar, and a twin. Yup I have to agree that there is nothing better than the sound of a raw amp.

I have Amplitude on my iPad including the Slash and Hendrix bundles..... which I remember being pretty good at the time, haven’t open that up for ages until just now.... my copy is a few years old. I moved over to BIAS FX and BIAS AMP which I do really like and will be loading onto my MBP I especially want to play with the “mic your amp up and BIAS AMP recreates the sound as a patch” feature. Now BIAS is great but it must not be the end all....

so thank you very much for all the suggestions so far.... I’ll start going through them.... along with any alternatives like rack units.

Straight from the Les Paul into the head. No pedals, rack units, etc (not even a tuner!) I leave the neck P90 "off", tho, so I can gate the noise manually with the flip of the switch (because, yes, it is NOISY!)

No ear plugs as I'm the singer as well.

Maybe I could have ear plugs on chains that attach to my non-existent ear piercings. That'd be punk...yeah.

Presently it’s Waves PRS Dallas and bx_bassdude, but I’m about at that point where I want to find some more new tones again. Might try another PRS supermodel, even resurrect GTR or have s play with bx_rockrsck.

I second using the Kemper over plugins. Having said that, Plugin Alliance Mega Single and Duo are pretty authentic sounding for basic Rock overdrive. Plus those 2 can use AAX DSP which is helpful for tracking.

Best is to demo all at the same time and decide. Very few will sound good in all situations or by all ears.
