I'm still curious about that book due out this summer. It is now the middle of August and summer will soon be over. Does anybody have any information? Bruce?

I'll check with the folks that were working with the author and find out the status.

I'm told that we will have the new tutorial book on the DigiStore ( http://store.digidesign.com ) in about 2 weeks. Late summer, but still summer.

It's now out:

Thanks for posting this news. I'm just wondering whether the book is going to be helpful for Pro Tools FREE. It appears to be oriented mostly towards Pro Tools LE. What do you say?

PTFree is Protools LE - only differences are:

even more restricted track count
runs on non-digi hardware
currently version 5.01 not 5.1.1 (big difference - believe me!)

and there is a flag in the code that allows plugin developers to decide whether they ley their products work on Free (for example Bomb Factory have elected to make their plugins so they will only work with LE/TDM).

Cheers

Pete
