Default Anybody here use IK Multimedia ACR?

I know this may not be the right place to ask this but, I just wanted to get peoples opinion on how well does the IK Multimedia work? Is it a fad? ...or does it really work wonders for your mixes...

I have ARC and I have used it...I'm not sure how much it helped. I got a pair of Avatone mixcubes, which I think are a BIG help when mixing. I haven't tried ARC at my new place, instead been relying on the mixcubes and my BM5As. I have acoustic treatment as well.

I briefly considered it, but it does reek of snake oil to me.
I'd just put the $200 toward some more room treatment.

hmmm... These replies sound interesting. I do have a pretty good sounding control room that's acoustically treated. I also have a good pair of studio monitors (Mackie HR824 mkII). Since I've built my new studio, I've really gotten to know my room and my speakers, thus my mixes have really leaped leaps and bounds. I also use plenty of reference tracks. I was thinking about purchasing the ARC, I guess I may not now. Thanks for your replies guys.

Anybody else wanna chime in?

Learning your system(as you have by what you say) is the single most important thing here. Having some device, be it ARC, or calculated room treatments and such, simply make it faster/easier as there(in theory anyway) will be fewer inaccuracies to "learn". I chose a slightly different route and measured my room, using SMAART. What I discovered was, the couch behind the mix position was quite accurate(good for the producer), but my chair(the actual mix position for the engineer) is where room modes caused a serious hole around 50Hz. Since I doubt I could fit enough treatment in my little space to correct for that, I installed a subwoofer and used a digital crossover that allowed for parametric filters and time alignment. That(with SMAART) allowed me to tune the sub so it corrects the dip for my chair position. Now I can have accuracy for me(sub ON) or the producer(sub OFF).

If your mixes are translating well, I would be inclined to roll with things as they are(it ain't broke so why fix it). Its when mixes DON'T translate, when you need to work on a fix(which could be ARC, treatments, my method, a combination of any/all....or rebuilding the room)

I have used the hardware that this plug-in is based on and it works very well.
I just don't think room correction should be done in the box but it should be on the rooms b-chain like it is in a theater
