Angry Pro Tools 8 LE Problem

Hi guys! I'm new to the forum and i hope i can get some info about my problem.
So here's the deal.

I run on Windows 7 64 bit with updated pro tools 8.0.5 but i just can't seem to get sound through my home stereo speakers. I can listen what i've recorded if i bounce the tracks to my disk. Does anyone has any idea of what is going on cause it's driving me insane.

Not really enough info for us to help! What interface? How are you connecting to your home stereo?(buying dedicated studio monitors is a much better route for recording). How knowledgeable are you regarding Pro Tools IO setup?

Assuming you have an Mbox 2 or 3, you would run cables from the line outputs of the Mbox(TRS connections) to a set of TAPE or LINE inputs of the stereo receiver(likely RCA jacks). Don't mistake the RCA jacks on some Mboxes as a home stereo connection. They are either SPDIF(which is a stereo digital signal) or RCA INPUTS(not outputs).

Default Pro Tools 8 LE Problem

If you are using Pro Tools LE 8, then you have an Avid interface plugged in. The Avid interface is the only place where you can get audio into and out of LE 8. You cannot use your onboard sound card.

Default Pro Tools 8 LE Problem

The Mbox 2 has a "Mix" knob on the front. Put it at 12 o'clock. Adjust the output level as needed to get appropriate signal into your stereo.

Having read Albee's advice, have you connected the Mbox and stereo using the right cables into the right connectors?

In Pro Tools>Hardware setup, is Mbox selected as playback engine?
In Pro Tools>Setup>I/O setup>input & output tab click default.

In Pro Tools, are your track outputs assigned correctly?

Since you're using a home stereo have you selected the right source (Aux input) for the incoming signal on the stereo itself?

You may want to have a look at the Pro Tools Reference Guide (manual) if you haven't already done so.

and, are you hearing anything with headphones plugged into the Mbox headphone jack?(it would help to verify that audio is making it at least that far)

Yes i've already done these steps in the right order.
But nothing seems to work yet.
And to answer your last question, i can't hear anything if i plug my headphones in. Is that a big prob?

Well yes...that likely means no signal is reaching the Mbox....therefore not reaching your stereo.

Have you installed the correct drivers?

Are you able to take a snapshot of your I/O settings in Pro Tools and post a link here on the DUC?
