Default Which version of Quick Time?

Hi All,

I'm about to install PT version 7.3 (which has been sitting around in a box for several months), but first I must update the OS on my G5 PowerPC. (not intel)

I've heard horror stories about recent versions of Quick Time causing problems with Pro Tools, and have been advised NOT to update to current versions. (FWIW, this advice comes from guys using older versions of PT and OS X)

It appears that I have QT player 7.0.3 on board now with OS X 10.4.5.

I'll be updating to OS X 10.4.9, and anticipate the option of updating Quick Time or NOT during the installation process.

Any advice or experience with QT problems?

Mark

I get all manner of video files (.mov) from our various edit suites which will all be bang up to date, and have no problems playing them. I get dv pal (although its a pain in the arse when they forget to apply the de interlace filter and reverse field order) motion jpeg etc etc without issues.
Am i lucky?

Peter

I've been using the most current versions of QuickTime without any problems.
Set up similar to yours, 10.4.9 and 10.4.10
