Default Re: from d24 to mix

[/QUOTE]

I remember hearing this before...why is this?

I have a D24, 2 Mix Farms, and 1 DSP Farm running on a G4 1.25 single. I'm out of PCI slots, and sometimes wish I had more plug in juice...though not often..I can get quite a bit on my system as it is. Would you get an expansion chassis and DSP Farms over Mix Farms to get more plug in power, or get a Mix Farm and stay with the PCI slots I have? Thanks!

I had this exact system for years. Get rid of the D24 and get a MIX core. Then you'd have a MIX cubed with an extra DSP farm.

OK, I probably shouldnt have made that claim BUT.... there are 2 kinds of chips on mix farms and some plug ins prefer the kind of chips that are on the dsp farms that the mix farms only have 2 of (I think).

why waste a mix farm chip on something that can be run on a dsp farm chip? dsp farm chip = 50 bucks. mix farm chip = 150 bucks.

and yeah, get a pci chassis, at least one Mix Farm and as many DSP Farms as you can get. I dont even have any mix chips and i do fine but yeah there are plugs that need the mix chips and of course there are mix only features and thats why i suggest getting at least one mix farm card.
