Default Basic difference: Opterons vs. Athlons ??

Good day DUC'ers

I am wondering about this. According to the info I've come across, the Opterons have some hyperthreading capability inside each core and an extra bandwidth between cores.......??

Or is it something else.

Am I somehow better of with an Opteron in my LE system or would an Athlon suffice??

Thanks in advance.

Golli.

BTW. I allready tryed the search function, and to many Opterons and Athlons in peoples signatures around here
