Device Driver TPkd problem...
Just upgraded to PT 7 LE, and am getting a message that says "This software requires installation of device driver TPkd and a reboot before running", when starting Pro Tools.
I upgraded the PACE drivers (which didn't help) and tried to enable the driver in the hidden devices menu (as instructed on this site) but the driver is not there at all, even after specifically re-installing new PACE drivers. I thought that LE does not need PACE, and I never had it when I bought 6.7 about a year ago. What am I supposed to do? I'm dead in the water with a deadline coming up. The session was started in a co-writer's studio, who is using LE 7, as well, so I need it. Thanks for your help. |

Re: Device Driver TPkd problem...
LE has used PACE drivers ever since I can remember.
Try removing any third party plugins temporarily and see if that helps.

Re: Device Driver TPkd problem...
Thanks for the suggestion.
Just tried it...still the same thing, unfortunately. I guess I don't understand why PACE drivers even need to be installed, since LE does not use the Interlok key? |

Re: Device Driver TPkd problem...
LE doesn't use the key, but it uses the PACE drivers with the authorization code that you have to enter when you install. Has as long as I can remember, all the way back to PT version 5.x.
Are you running a virus scanner? If so, turn it off. When you updated the PACE drivers, did you get the latest update from The PACE website? You said the driver is not there at all? That doesn't sound right at all. Try re-installing those again. When you updated to 7.0, did you update any non-core plugins? (Details about doing so are on the 7.0 info page) Do you even have any installed? If so which ones? My only other suggestion is to uninstall Pro Tools, delete all traces of it and the pace drivers, and try a re-install. Other than that, you'll have to Contact tech support
