Default weird tin can sound..

I have something really strange happening and could use some ideas what this might be.

The dialog in an OMF reel im working on sounds like the actors are
in a very small closet or dull tin can.

Whats really odd is if i bounce it down.
And play it through the same speakers (via windows media player)
the tin can sound isnt there.

Im at a total loss what might be causing this in PT.

If i take every track out but the single mono dialog track its still there.
I had a master fader going, but I disabled the output on that
so i "think" its the channel going directly to the analog outs
on my 003 factory.

Any settings that I might not be thinking about that could cause something like this?

I can supply any more info on the setup if asked.

I should add im pretty new to PT, and this is the first OMF session
ive worked on. (im a production sound mixer)

Thanks guys

Are you sure you don't have any hidden tracks? Or maybe you are sending the signal to two different outputs?

It sounds like a phase issue or two signals. OMF quite often has the dialog on two mono tracks - one close mic and one boom mic. I assume you Bounce-To-Disk rather than Record-To-Track - what's the Bounce Source setting set to in the Bounce-To-Disk window?

I don't know the 003, but could it be that you are listening to the digital and analog output at the same time in Pro Tools, but only the analog when listening to the windows media player?

Hope you get it fixed,
Timothy

Look for an asterisk on the outputs side in the mix window, someone might have accidentally held down control while selecting them, and ended up double-bussing something.

Good luck!
