Ha... I feel ya.

It's like they get the pre's in em so cheap (Being they aren't the greatest), that they can do
it, just for the heck of it, just to drive the price up.

That's what I'd do if I was them.... Though I would offer better pre's, and on/off switchable eq.

Anyway.

There's a ton of options for you though.

If you want something different, consider a FW1884 with 2 expansions, AWESOME automation, I liked the faders. Smooth. Fine.
As a whole, it is a VERY stable surface in PT.
Also gives you 8 pre's (A wee bit shy of the Control 24 pre's), and you can run em Lightpipe to your interface!!

There's always the US2400 too, no pre's, adds a joystick!, though I haven't used this one in PT.

I second you though.

Just a surface.... maybe better faders. and power supplies. and scribble strips.
can the monitor section..... maybe.... or make it better.

I`m aware of the Tascam stuf............To me they kinda have a cheap look to them....


Personally, I know a LOT of people locally that would buy a designated 24 fader controller from digi if it were available. Why would anyoneone running a high end TDM rig want to use 003 preamps?....It makes no sense at all. Even with my 002, I run all external pres. What I would like to do is go for a 24 fader controller and a rackmount interface, then graduate to HD later, and still use the controller...

..To me its just a no brainer

Yeah forget about the mic pres and offer a XMON option would be much better. Have a XMON stereo only version with a 5.1 upgrade would be cool.
I have owned both a pro-control and still have a Control 24. i still feel the faders on Pro Control are the best of all the digi surfaces.
