Help please! Setup my mbox and mixer!

Hi, hope somebody can help...

I have an mbox mini 3g, mixer peavey pv8 and mxl 990 mic.

I have it setup this way: My two monitos KRK on the outputs of the mbox, the i have a cable from my mixer outups (mono send) going to my input on the mbox (DI)

It work everything on my Pro Tools Express 10.3.2 on windows 7 but when i try to record, the mix knob on the mbox controls the volume of my headphone so when i put them up it make my voice sounds bad... And that knob control the monitor kinda to, i know it may be just a setting or something stuped that i missing but anything will help!
