I’ve been getting by PT wise also. But this general posturing of our captains of industry is not all that heart warming.

This extremely dangerous issue has been going on for literally years. It has been seen on HD, LE and M-powered on both PC and Mac:
I'll end the tabulated list here as it's far from complete and it goes back many many years.

Avid Audio, what is it going to take for this to be top priority?

Fortunately no ears were damaged. Couldn't have said the same if I'd been producing monitor mixes for headphones though.
What version? LE, HD, M-Powered, Essential? PC or Mac?

this topic is interesting, as i was majoing in buisness law, and buisness management.

nearly got my Bachelors too, but who knew CLEP tests had expiration dates on them...

anyways, digi/avid-design, could face really troublesome lawsuits.

when researching a walmart class law suit. a customer slipped n fell, damaging a spinal cord in his body, and also cuttiing open some nerves from glass that was on the floor that an employee forgot to pick up.

anways the guy sued walmart because he had become disabled and unable to work.

looking at his yearly income for the last 5 years, there was an increase of 20% walmart had to pay his yearly income, and add 20% on it for 20 years *had been working there for 20 years, another 20 would be considered retirement.*

judgin the fact that this guy was a white collar worker, making 60 grand a year, you do the math, it adds up quite quickly. by his 20th year he would be making alot more money.

i personally make from my studio anywhere from 800 to 1200 a week, so about 45 grand a year, from just studio work. including my job as an instock 3rd shift supervisor. i get another 1000 a week from them. im making between 75-80 thousand a year, before taxes and bills.

i highly doubt digidesign could afford to pay me that much [bleep][bleep][bleep][bleep]ing money. yearly

let alone a group of people making between 50-100 thousand a year.

digi/avid-design really needs to look at this from a financial aspect.

Yeah the thing isn't about whether or not it may or may not happen, but the fact that people have, especially as of late, really been harking on this & these Tony Karates have not said or @least pulled this so-called new version which it has really been affecting people...

As I have stated before, it hadn't happened to me but only twice(2 days to be more accurate happening multiple times this last time) but 1 time is TOO FARKIN MANY given the fact it has been brought about this long...

I did also have an instance where a client brought a drive & it did as what u see on Shane's original post but I just dragged the session to my drive & was fine; but this past monday WAS MY DRIVE & it kept doing it while I was recording a group of 12 all with Headphones on )_____(

Shan,

That is very unfortunate for you and I would have had the same reaction if it would have blown my JBL LSR's.

I was testing 8.03 and found the white noise immediatley. I had the cans on too. Luckily I am using the hearback system on that desk and the limiter worked very well. I reverted back to 8.01. I am not even running the 8.01cs1 just 8.01. It is as stable as 8.01 gets.

Good info for all.
The chart doesn't go over 106dbA

http://www.cdc.gov/niosh/topics/nois...okatnoise.html

EDIT: A quick check of Shan's video shows 25-30db bursts, so from the constant daily recommended exposure of 85dba you would hit 110-115.
