Default Pro Tools Wont Even Load PATHETIC.

So, finally got Windows 7 and Pro Tools 10.3 after realising it wouldn't run on Windows 8 Beta...

Did ALL optimizations AVID listed, installed PT10.3 as Administrator, run as Administrator, good.

Create a blank session, CRASHES, ACCESS VIOLATION. Try to close PT, INFINITE ACCESS VIOLATIONS, have to close using task manager. Try to open a recent session file from uni, CRASHES WHILST LOADING BUS 127-128. Try a blank session again, actually works for a second, try creating new mono track, ACCESS VIOLATION, HANGS.

This is a brand new CLEAN Windows 7 Service pack 1 install, only the required mobo drivers etc installed as it is designed to be a PT system only, nothing else.

I've tried clearing prefs etc as instructed on Google, NOTHING WORKS. What the hell is wrong with PT!??

I'm actually going out of my mind here trying things. I have not been filled with any confidence by this so far, seems like a TOTALLY lazy MAC port.

Someone please enlighten me as to what I'm supposed to do to just get it to work

windows users need to provide a sandra report

- please - use sisoftware's sandra lite application to generate a full system profile:

www.sisoftware.co.uk

under sisoftware sandra, click on "download & buy" to download the free sandra lite version or purchase other versions. After installing sandra, click on the 'hardware' tab and run the 'computer overview', then copy and paste into your post here on the duc.

You can find videos on how to create a sandra report here (generously provided by duc member benoni) :
http://duc.avid.com/showthread.php?t=303059

the more information you can provide, the easier it will be for tech support and other users to assist you - take the time now to document everything you can and you'll save time in the long run. We can't express enough the importance of describing everything in extreme detail - remember, no one here can see how your gear is configured, so we need an accurate description by you to get a clear picture. The better we can envision your setup, the easier it will be to troubleshoot.

if you have been referred to this thread and reply without providing the information requested above, including the sandra report for windows users, your post is very likely to be given lower priority in favor of those who have provided complete information.

Well thank you, I think that's the first helpful reply I've had on these forums. I usually just get sarcasm or trolls.

Ok, custom built PC, nothing fruity, Samsung 830 SSD is my C-drive, 1115 socket i5, Mini ITX mobo, 8GB 1333 RAM, 450w PSU, Sapphire 6850 GPU.

Audio Interface = Focusrite 2i2, fully working and the only audio option not disabled in Windows.

Nothing wrong computer hardware wise, temps etc. Installed Windows 7 service pack 1 haven't done any Windows updates yet. Everything is clean.

Have you done the system optimizations for PT?
Wireless adapter should be off.

I personally would update windows upgrades first - fwiw

So will the system stay stable w/o creating tracks in the session ?

- a full uninstall might be worth considering

- so does the Focusrite play nice with windows?

- do u have mix control loaded ? What version?

- any device manager issues ? What kind of mobo was that ?

- if I remember right LG1155's chipsets were kosher most everyone used the other ones (i7's?? I don't remember) but u could search the forum for ur chipset b/c a lot of people have put up useful info over the years - chipsets that worked w/o issue and other ones that did not

I'll try it with the wireless disabled. I did all the ones listed, some of which were already done by default. I haven't cocked anything up though, I used to do IT so I've got a moderate level of understanding.

EDIT: doesn't work with wireless disabled and unplugged as well.

Pro Tools loads to the "create a session" window most of the time (sometimes it crashes at loading bus 127-128)

I've already tried uninstalling and re-installing once

The reason I bought the Focusrite was because it was known to be good with Windows driver-wise. It plays back everything normally e.g. system sounds, WMP etc

I'm sorry but I don't know what "mix control" is :L

Just checked and there are 2 items with yellow alerts on the in Device Manager, "Ethernet Controller" which is probably because I didn't install the driver for it as I use a wireless adapter and ethernet is not needed. The other item is just "Unknown device" no idea what that is tbh.

The mobo is ASROCK H67M-ITX

Wow that's a new motherboard company never heard of those guys before

Did you build the system yourself?

Pro tools is really finicky I'm not sure how much experience you've had before but even something as weird as missed matched ram (which you don't have) or a video card may cause problems

They're quite a well known mobo brand tbh, no issues with them or anything like that.

Yes I built the system myself, been running for almost a year and EVERYTHING works fine, games, programs, music, video all ports, stat interfaces etc. Just Pro Tools is clearly just an awful port on PC.
