Default Scarlett 2i2 (3rd party interface errors)

Assertion in "..\Source\DSK_PlayerEngine.cpp", line 203

I recently purchased a Focusrite Scarlett 2i2. I can only run the Scarlett at the 6ms latency setting in the Focusrite control panel. In Pro Tools 10 it says 512 samples. Whenever I try to go to a smaller setting I get that error.

I'm running Windows 7 64 bit. I have the updated drivers as well as the new Pro tools 10 update.

I have the Scarlett 8i6 and I was running into the same error. I uninstalled the Scarlett drivers and the MixControl, re-installed them, fiddled with sample rate/ASIO buffer size, low latency monitoring and delay compensation. It took a little bit of tweaking, and I ran into issues where it would buzz (it was effected by asio buffer size and play back engine settings. Make sure the Host Engine box is unchecked), but it eventually worked and now I can change the sample rate and buffer settings in the MixControl software without it effecting PT.

Hopefully that helps.

Exclamation Re: Scarlett 2i2 (3rd party interface errors)

Now I'm getting this too on my 2i2, I worked on this session a few days ago and it was fine. Haven't changed the folder structure or anything.

From my experience so far it's safe to say Pro Tools on Windows is ABYSMAL.

Thumbs down Re: Scarlett 2i2 (3rd party interface errors)

Ok, I've set the Focusrite driver to 10ms and left it there. Getting problems with lower. Pro Tools takes over the 512, 1024 etc when it loads so you can't change that, it's up to Pro Tools.

When you're loading up PT hold down "N" and your interface settings will come up, confirm they are ok and then click ok/close. Pro Tools SHOULD be ok then. That's what worked for me, although PT for Windows is awful, expect it to come back in the future (that's if this even works).

Good luck, you're going to need it with Pro Tools 10 on Windows!

With the 18i20 which uses the same driver as the rest of the Scarlett series you need to set the MixControl to 1ms before you launch Pro Tools and then you'll have from 64 to 1024 available in the buffer settings. If you set the MixControl to something that doesn't equate to buffers in multiples of 64 you'll have problems as PT only works with samples (not milli-seconds) in multiples of 64.

Here's how I got my Scarlett 18i20 working with PT11 in Windows:

1) Open Mix Control - set ASIO buffer size to 1ms. This will give you freedom to choose from the full range of buffer sizes within Pro Tools as ron_from_RIFAS mentioned.

2) Set sample rate in Mix Control to your desired PT session sample rate.

3) Open Windows Control Panel > Hardware & Sound > Manage Audio Devices

4) On the 'Playback' tab, select the Scarlett Line-out and click Properties. Go to the 'Advanced' tab and change the sample rate to match the sample rate you set in the Mix Control. Don't worry that the only options are 16-bit, the ASIO driver will override this in the DAW.

5) Do the same as step 4 but on the 'Recording' tab, selecting the Scarlett Line-in and changing the sample rate to the one you plan to use.

Now open Pro Tools and set up your session with the sample rate you set in Mix Control and it should all function smoothly, no assertion errors/crashes.
