Default PT9 on G5 PPC?

ive read in the specs, that PT9 needs snow leopard.
i still have a G5 PPC with Leo. PT8 runs just fine. but PT9? do i realy need an intel mac now? to install SL to run PT9?

Avid announced it would no longer support Power PC Macs a while ago, no reason to expect G5s to be supported on PT9
