Do those iMacs still get that hot ? and is it still that hard to replace just a Harddrive ?

I never thought it got that hot. Lots of heat came out the top, but that's the way it should be. Lots of components creating a lot of heat in there. Better out than in.

And it's still quite a task to replace a hard drive. it involves removing the front glass with suction cups, then taking off the actual LCD screen underneath. I've been a PC builder since 2001 and I wouldn't want to mess with that unless I was out of warranty and had no other choice. Part of the reason I got rid of it and got another MacBook Pro.

Having the drives after the pro-fire you must be very careful not to ever turn the pro-fire off before unmounting the drives or shutting the computer down, its always a tricky thing but one could accidentally turn the wrong thing off and loose valuable data that way

Yup. Sucks there's no other way. Drive first used to work fine on my old MacBook Pro, but not on the new ones. Oh well.
