Default new mac pro trashcan & OS x install

hey all- helping a buddy setup a brand new trash can (yes---I told him not to buy it now but he did anyways lol). He has PT ultimate and runs native.

Im sure it will ship with Mojave, but is it possible to roll back to Sierra? Personally my Sierra+PT Ultimate 12.7 combo is very stable and I'd like to put this on his new system. Just seeing if this is possible and if there are any issues I should be aware of.

thanks!

Yes it will run and no you won’t have an issue, aside from finding an installer.

Hopefully you kept your installer. I keep a copy of every revision and have done since around 10.5 as I often get asked to fix others people’s machines.

Handy to have them ready to go when you need them.

I don't know about Ultimate, but FWIW 2018.12 Native on latest Mojave on my Late 2013 Trashcan is very stable. The sucker is very very snappy too...

Dammmmm I hate to hear this , Because I guess I am going to have to pony up for a new Graphics card to get my mid 2010 Mojave ready

Hold your horses. I have both in regular use
Mac OS 10.13.6 and 10.14.4
With 2010 cMP 12 core
By far the current stability is better with 10.13.6
Although in Mojave at least one crash per launch.
Fairly stable but no crashes in High Sierra
All may become moot next pro tools 2019.x

My 2015 rMBP had Mojave for a while and I rolled it back with an installer for High Sierra I downloaded yesterday from the Apple App Store. I had to make a USB installer which is a minor time consuming, PITA, but it all worked well in the end.

And everybody trying Mojave I hope you tried disabling hyperthreading, many posts about that on DUC. Makes it stable enough for many of us here.
