Default Blown 11r headphone jack

Hey guys,

I recently blow the headphone jack on my 11r

any info on how I could possibly repair this?

or

should I go the route of getting some sort of another headphone outlet to run along side my 11r? I would love to keep this as cheap as possible, I record for my own pleasures and am not looking to break the bank.

I love using my 11r for recording so I do not want to stop using it all together.

I also own a 003 rack but I have no idea how to run these two side by side in order to make this work if it is even possible.

Can anybody out there answer my prayers? haha

I run ProTools 11 through windows 7 pro

Much thanks in advance for any help I receive.

What do you mean by "blown" and how are you determining it is "blown".

A common reason for believing the head phone does not work is the headphone and/or master and/or rig output volumes are turned down. If you look on at the output level meters in the extreme right of the rig view on the Eleven Rack front panel does it show a level going to the headphones?

Do your headphone work on other devices?

Are you sure its not just a 1/4" jack problem? If you wiggle the plug or look inside for broken tabs/connections or the internal contacts just splayed to far out?. They fail all the time.

Anything besides that it is not going to be economic to repair unless you did it yourself, and if you knew how to do that you'd already have done it....

If you want to use an external headphone amp, you can use just about any headphone amp you want. Most cheaper ones will be RCA analog input so you will need to use balanced XLR to unbalanced RCA adapter cables. Or you can get a digital headphone adapter and use the S/PDIF coaxial out (set to mirror main out) if you are not using that for something else. Are you using Main outputs to drive monitors when not using headphones? Switching them between sources may be a PITA.

What headphones are you trying to drive?

Better headphone amp/headphone DAC options will be more expensive than buying a used Eleven Rack. used Eleven Racks go for ~$250 on EBay.

I don't have any low-cost headphone amp/headphone DAC options to recommend but you can just search for them on Amazon or similar. I use my Eleven Rack with a Meir Audio analog headphone amp driven from the Main Outputs, or a Grace Design m920 driven digitally. Both of those headphone amp cost more than a new Eleven Rack.... and sound a lot better then the slightly underpowered Eleven Rack headphone output driving "difficult" headphones. But that's not what you are trying to solve...

You can use your 003 as your PT interface and take either the analog or SPDIF outputs from the 11R into the 003. You should still be able to the 11R editor software as long as you keep the USB cable connected.

This is correct.

I would go SPDIF's in/out and definitely use the USB cable
