Default Total noob...

Hey guys,
I'm currently studying audio production at college and being a student I'm trying to put together a very basic home studio for a little as possible.
I just bought a secondhand Mac Pro (running Snow Leopard) and a Digi 002 rack. I'm running PT9.

The 002 didn't come with any cables so I've just bought firewire and power cables for it, installed the latest drivers for 002/003 family interfaces off the Avid website and plugged it in. I'm not getting any acknowledgement that the 002 is plugged in via PT, and I'm also not getting a light on the rack to show the firewire connection is active (I presumed this would light up as soon as it's connected, or does it only light up once PT recognizes the interface?).

I've tested the firewire ports on my Mac Pro and they are working fine. Could it be a faulty cable? What should I do to install the interface through PT9 if it is just a faulty cable? Is there anything else I should be doing to run the 002 thru PT9? Sorry for all the questions, I've never had to install hardware in PT before. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi,

Read the PT9 FAQ and especially the section on audio drivers...

This is not the first time this issue has arisen so I would suggest doing a search in the forum. Sorry I can't be of more assistance.

This might be something to consider(since it is a 002 interface). Scroll halfway down

Also do a search on "Power Harness." There is a well know issue with the 002 family of interfaces and the power harness. It has to do with oxidation build up on the contacts.
