I am surprised that subscription is the fastest growing product!
I was not aware that subscription itself is a product.

Default Re: Interview Avid CEO about Pro Tools

Previous CEO Louis Hernandez, Jr's (massive) yearly bonuses were tied to subscription sales and not Avid's financial recovery (which still tanked.) It was the Board who decided that was the strategy to bring Avid back. That is why Pro Tools went suddenly hardcore on subscriptions (before that, Avid had been encouraging Pro Tools users to buy support plans but there was no requirement.)

So it isn't surprising that "subscriptions" are the fastest growing product but there's way too much spin on it as if it is the solution for Avid. It just means the CEO earns his bonus (which was a greater take than his salary)

Support plans are not subscriptions. Subscriptions are the cheapest way to buy Pro Tools which is no doubt why it's Avid's fastest growing product.
