Default Issues with Input/Output allocation

Hi!

I'm running PT 10.3.3 with an MBOX Pro on a brand new Macbook Pro 10.8.2.

After a few initial issues, PT 10 had been running fine on my old macbook pro (2 years old), but when I have installed it on my new laptop I'm having a few issues.

First off is that PT is not recognising any input options aside from it's internal mic, so I have a mic plugged in to the Mbox Pro, with phantom power turned on and I can see on the Mbox that it is picking up the sound from the mic, but when I go to select an input on the track to pick up the mic sound none of the options there make the mic audio audible.

When I go back to the instruction booklet (PT 9) it tells me to select a setting that isn't even there anymore in PT 10.3 and so that's been no help at all unfortunately.

Does anyone know what the problem might be?

Thanks!

Default Re: Issues with Input/Output allocation

I just went Setup> I/O and then under input's I created a "new path" called 'Mbox Mic Input 1" and allocated a mono input to '1' on the Pro Tools aggregate I/O, that seems to have done the trick- is that what's supposed to be done?

All that happened automatically last time I installed PT so just trying to make sure it's being set up the right way.

Hi,

First off you need to set pro tools to use the Mbox as the audio engine...

go to the playback engine and select the Mbox as the audio engine in the list of available devices.

Now the Mbox should be the audio device for pro tools. so go to the hardware setup page and make sure the inputs and outputs are setup right for the analogue or digital I/O that you want to use on the Mbox.

Also go to the I/O setup page and create the inputs and outputs you want to use on the Mbox and name them appropiately.

Now in the seesion you should be able to select the inputs and outputs that you want to use and they will be named etc.

No need to use an aggregate device for audio if you just want to use the Mbox on its own!!

I think an additional step should be added...

Now the Mbox should be the audio device for pro tools. so go to the hardware setup page and make sure the inputs and outputs are setup right for the analogue or digital I/O that you want to use on the Mbox.

Go to the I/O Setup page, go to each tab on the page and click the Default button. Do this for each tab on the I/O Setup page. This will give you a "base" I/O setup which may well be adequate for your needs. If the base I/O setup does not meet your needs, you can then do the next step; otherwise skip the next step.

Also go to the I/O setup page and create the inputs and outputs you want to use on the Mbox and name them appropiately.

Just rockin'...what more is there?
