I think I recently found the fix:

http://www2.solidstatelogic.com/stud...l1-7#&panel1-7

The fix on a Windows 7 machine is to make sure and run PT with "Administrator level privileges". I made this change roughly five days ago and my Nucleus has not lost communication once since this change. SSL outlines how to make this change in the above link.

Follow the link to the FAQ page on SSL's Nuclues troubleshooting page. The section is titled:

"Why is Pro Tools not communicating with my SSL control surface in Windows 7?"

I hope this helps.
'Run as admin' is one of those things that can fix a myriad of issues and certainly worth a shot. If you're on a single user computer there's no reason not to run as an admin account full time.

I went back to SSL, and they ran PT12.4 under Windows 7 on a Dell Latitude. They had exactly the same problem that I so!

There is no 'fix' yet, but at least I feel better that I am not totally crazy!

So, it seems to be a Pro Tools / Windows 7 combined issue. I'm thinking about upgrading to Windows 10, to further test the issue... though deferring for now! I cannot imagine what issues Windows 10 will bring!

I'll send another update if I EVER get to the root of this.

Thanks.
A nice control surface with Major Pro Tools Avid and SSL flaws (MIDI of IP VODo)
Duality is not any better util you buy into the Delta plug-in/hardware/Firmware
SSL and Avid loosing the battle here.

Thanks, Mick.

Hi folks. One more update. Although I went over to Mac in the end (which resolved the problem) it was an old machine, and now I have Universal Audio plug-in issues (disabling), so... I tried the Windows PC again, but with Windows 10.

And...as it happens, exactly the same problem, so Windows 10 did not fix the issue either....sad to say.

Oh well. Anyone selling a Mac Pro?! :)

If you don't mind a cheesegrater take a look at what OWC has. I got my current system from them and made some of my own upgrades (ssd for system drive, etc.). Mine came with Sierra but it's easy enough to go to whatever OSX you want.

Is the Nucleus only connected via Ethernet? I thought it was a USB piece and was going to ask if you killed the Power Management feature on the USB ports?

Nucleus connects via ethernet and USB.
USB is only for the keyboard emulation side of things.
Ethernet is for all of the controller functionality and, in the Nucleus 2, for Dante.

This thread was from 4 years ago, I would hope SSL support got on top of this and would know what works.

I've been having this same issue on a mac with OSX 10.13.6 (High Sierra) since a recent PT update in the last month or so. Was working fine until the update, since then it's been connecting okay but "read only", in that I can move a fader on screen and a fader on the Nucleus will move, but touching any faders or buttons on the Nucleus has no effect

I've managed to sort this by going into network settings and changing IPv6 from auto to manual, and leaving the manual settings blank. I'm guessing PT is seeing the auto IPv6 setting and it's causing a problem somehow
