best audio path?
i am searching for the best-quality audio path (aren't we all?). i do a lot of work off mastered dats &/or cds where i load it in to pt and manipulate (edits, fades, rides, flying stuff in, ect.) and then record it back to cd or dat. currently i am loading in my 16 bit source via aes straight into an 888. i am getting an ard sync soon. should i load thru good 16 to 24 bit converters, do my work and then convert back to 16? should i convert in pt? use a dither plug in? what is the best way to do this type of work in pro tools and create this new master with the integrity of my original source??

Re: best audio path?
Keep it digital SPDIF transfer is good. Ard sync is good too. Skip going out analog - ever.
