Default OT: 1/4 jack...which side is positive?

and which is negative?
i have a feeling the tip is positive...am i correct in thinking that?

thanks...im...rewiring my marshall cabinet.

As far as wiring speakers goes, I'd bet you can't hear the difference if you switch the wires, as long as all speakers are working in the same direction.

Some swear they can hear the difference, and maybe they can. But if they do, it's not for the reason they usually give: "the speaker is pulling instead of pushing".
Sorry, that doesn't hold water.

A friend just got a $4000 Two Rock head, those guys recommend wiring it 'backwards'. It's goofy to me, but amusing.

I have never heard a difference...except that it may go out of phase with other cabs the same model and for lives shows....meh....no biggie,recording is not so fun tho.

yeah, after messing around with rewiring, it really didnt sound any different...oh well...atleast i didnt break anything while trying
