There is not even one McDSP AAX 64bit Windows Plug-In. Not Even one and no News when they plan on releasing them? Saw a photo today of Colin from McDSP at a conference with a MAC laptop in front of him so maybe Windows AAX 64bit is not a priority to them.

From the bottom of the McDSP downloads page:

* AAX 64-bit versions of these v5 plug-ins for Windows are not yet available, please check back soon.

** AAX versions of these v5 plug-ins for Windows are not yet available, please check back soon.

As said by justus1900, not a single AAX64 Windows plug is shipping. Their press release from July touting AAX64 compatibility mentions it is a Mac only release (almost like it is a feature) and says "A 64-bit Windows release is coming soon".

You have to be keen-eyed (not salivating with CC in hand) to spot that they are not shipping AAX64 Windows plugs. They are working to hide this a bit in my opinion. Otherwise, in BOLD , at the top of the download page (or purchase page, or front page...) it would say something like:

"AAX64 VERSIONS FOR PRO TOOLS 11 ARE CURRENTLY A MAC ONLY RELEASE - WINDOWS VERSIONS COMING SOON!".

I'm sure some poor souls have mistakenly purchased what they thought were PT11 compatible Windows AAX64 McDSP plugs only to find out they are not out yet as a result of this obfuscation.

Great! I was being dumb....

I think you are being extraordinarily generous with that assessment.

I'd based my previous assumption on the info given on their AAX download page.

Whilst I admittedly never spotted the asterisked small print, I was completely fooled in to believing that the majority of their plug-ins were AAX for Windows, by virtue of the fact that their download grid shows the Windows logo alongside every product excluding the few I'd mentioned.

That coupled with the fact that this statement :

is pretty definitive.

And this statement :

is extremely misleading, as it implies that PT10.3.6 has some direct bearing on using AAX plugins (one might assume that means that McDSP have 32bit AAX plug-ins available, or PT10.3.6 can utilise 64bit AAX).

The only thing PT10.3.6 has any bearing on, is the ability to have a dual installation of PT10 & PT11.

Pro Tools 10 users need to upgrade their Pro Tools version to 11 to use AAX format plugins as of this release.

I certainly got the impression (I think from interviews with Colin) that not only were Windows releases imminent, but that they had arrived.

I honestly thought the only plugin I was waiting on was Revolver, and I thought that had recently been ported - I don't know where I must have got that impression now...

I guess I'd be pretty cheesed if I'd actually got round to installing PT11 yet.

I was actually seriously considering doing just that this weekend, as I'm between jobs for the next few days.

Guess I'll just put my feet up instead.

Yes, I think I'm being generous too

If it were my company, I'd want some clear labeling regarding this issue on the web site front page, or at the very least, on the purchase page. As it is now, it feels like at best it is a blatant attempt to hide the non-availability of Windows AAX64 McDSP plugs. At worst, a engineered attempt to "trick" Windoze dummies (like me) into buying plugs that have no use right now (coming soon!) in PT11 on Windows.

Maybe they should just change the name of the company to "McDSP AAX 64bit MAC" Since they only support MAC in AAX 64bit.

McDowell Signal Processing.

In any case one would think there are many potential Windows users who would be interested in purchasing the new plugins, aside from wanting to use the rest in 64 bit format. Seems like it would just be good business to me.

I've been getting pretty interested in the DMG stuff in the meantime.

Another issue is that some of us working pretty heavily in 11 are moving on from these plugins we already own that are not supported yet in 11. Mcdsp who I really like among others, I used to rely on, I am finding alternatives in many cases.
