Got no problem seeing what MIDI notes are selected in the velocity window. Color isn't the problem but the size of the heads of the stalks. And that's not possible to change by us civilians. Also go no problems seeing what MIDI notes are selected in the MIDI editor window either.


Now if you're talking about MIDI notes in a track in the regular edit screen THAT is a problem. You have to blow up the track size to see them easily.

Couple of problems with that. The first is the file isn't small - has a LOT of lines and breaking it up into multiple posts might not workout. The second is there's not one solution that is working for everyone. For instance several of the changes posted by Macsearcher with his bluish color are poorly visible to me - I prefer the more contrasty greenish color that's stock.

I mean I can try and post what I use.

I just posted my file in two parts as there's a limit on what a single DUC post can have. I haven't done all the changes/suggestions made here as they didn't work for me. But this is what I'm currently working with.

Hey Musicman, thanks for posting the summary of your changes.
I agree that it is next to impossible to post a wrap-up version. As you said, every person has their own taste.
I'm wondering if we could find a way to highlight the lines in the .txt file that have been altered. It seems that there are several key elements that benefit from editing and then a lot of lines of stuff that can be ignored.
I have been using the < and > keys before and after any spots that I make changes ie. <<< this changes the grid line visibilty>>> but whatever works for you should be fine. It doesn't seem to affect performance as these are just notes that get ignored by PT.

I haven't had any luck in finding a way to soften the brightness of the vertical marker lines and the automation lines (see attached). They are much too intense for me (unless you really like plaid designs all over your PT session). If anyone has any luck with that then please do let me know.

Thing is a lot of people don't want to get involved in altering their file but would rather just replace their current file with a new one. Not everyone is computer savvy enough to successfully make the changes. Add in extra lines and people would only get confused. And so would PT as we don't know for sure PT is looking for. I'd rather have people use the file as I presented then give them a file that may or may not work right.



These two post are not just a summary but the whole actual file I'm currently using.


For those just tuning in you have to change the permissions for the folder that holds the dark mode file. Change the admin permissions from read only to read/write. You have to be running in admin mode to make the changes. And as always - make a safety copy of the original file and save it off to another place NOT on your system drive. That way when things go toes-up you have a way to get back working.

This is exactly why I say there can never be a dark mode file that will work for everyone. People complain they can't see the lines and you're saying they're too intense. Same thing as regards the bluish changes you suggested - too soft for me to easily see what's going on.

Yah, I totally agree. Everyone is going to have their own needs and tastes.
I know that lots of folks found the grid lines too soft but I haven't heard anyone say that they had trouble seeing the marker vertical lines or the automation lines. They are extremely bright. Anyway, I'm just having trouble finding a way to edit them. Please do let me know if you have. I would be most grateful.
