Default Sputtering/spitting with VE Pro

I'm having problems with random spitting and sputtering of VI's coming (or going) from a servant Mac Pro with VEPro 4.1.8008 installed. (Mac "Harpertown" 8 core, OS 10.6.8. 18GB RAM) It's like the system hiccups.

The master Mac is running PT 8.0cs3 (G5 Mac, 2.0ghz, OS 10.5.8, 4.5GB RAM). The playback engine is set at 512 samples, 1 processor @ 99% (2 processor @ 90% causes RTAS disk too slow read errors). Anything more than 512 creates unacceptable latency. (Note: PT 8.0cs3 is the last version that will run Spectrasonics plugs via RTAS on a G5 Mac, so I am forced to use this version my setup)

On the G5 Mac I have several VI's instantiated... 2 instances of Xpand, Mini Grand (melody only, no chords), and Stylus RMX (1 loop only for demo purposes) This does not seem to be a load that maxes out the G5 processor, it seems to be originating from the servant Mac running VE Pro.

VE Pro is running one instance of Ivory Piano 2, Omnisphere running 2 channels , Trilian (1 channel), and a Korg M1 VI. This should not be too great a load to bear for my generation of Intel based Mac...

Any ideas on what causes and/or cures this would greatly be appreciated!

Default Re: Sputtering/spitting with VE Pro

Just noticed the system is spitting a distortion glitch for no apparent reason even when the PT is stopped. Short of a restart (where the problem will happen again), any ideas? It seems to build up over time.
