Re: Windows 7 better stability with HD than XP?
Any thoughts on dual vs single cpu's (AudioVision - i see u have 2 diff systems; work & home)? We've always had dual xeon machines and wondering if it's necessary or is the investment better spent on addl RAM beyond 4gb (even though PT is still 32 bit). OR - dare I say, both!? Stability/performance gains? Appreciate the input..

Re: Windows 7 better stability with HD than XP?
Did you mean dual cores or dual CPUs? I say the more power you can have the better but if you don't use many RTAS and have enough TDM processing it isn't that important as long as you have multi-core CPUs. Having multiple cores helps with "snappier" response and multitasking. As far as RAM goes I'd have at least 6 GB as W7 will use at least 1 GB of it, PT can utilize almost 3 GB and there'll be 2 GB left for overhead.

Re: Windows 7 better stability with HD than XP?
I know I asked kind of a rhetorical question. The more the better! Nah, I did mean just that: two CPUs (not cores). It's just AudioVision had a single cpu at home and a 2 at work (quad cores) & wondered how much he might be lacking or gaining.
Plenty of TDM cards.. but stability wise I wondered if a difference could be seen. If no difference, then i guess, yeah, ya load it up! |
