Default PT-9 to PT-11HD

Pro Tools 11 looks delicious. As a music mixer and PT user since 2006, what is the most direct (friendly) route to update from PT-9 (using a 002) to PT-11HD (using a 3rd party I/O)? Since HD is only dealer serviced, there is not website solution. Perhaps I need to ask a dealer this question?

In your same exact situation. Before even seeing an upgrade route, I want to see a comparison chart first...

If you want to upgrade just the software you'd need to buy the CPTK & a spare $999.

Or buy a 2nd hand PT10HD license & pay $599.

There's no other way to upgrade just your software.

You final option is to buy Avid hardware & get the 11HD software that way & sell your PT9 license.

Not pretty whichever way you look at it I'm afraid.

Hmm,

Well, it is looking like $399 is the upgrade from earlier versions...

http://www.sweetwater.com/feature/protools11/

which is distinctly interesting. I may have to finally upgrade.

Yes, that seems to be the initial step to take. Upgrade PT9 to PT10, and will receive PT11 (if registered after 4.07.013) when it is available.
Then if possible sell the PT11 and think about the $999 - PT11HD.

I've been using PT9/CPTK w/ VEP5 and it works great. So, maybe I'll hang tight @ PT10 w/ this set up.

PS:You can find the upgrade fr PT9 -PT10 for 299.00_ look around
