I agree, and on the surface it's a pretty basic problem to solve. Like many things though it gets more complicated to plan, execute, and pay for. The bigger challenge - it needs to be prioritized against other activity. I agree it would need to be a bundle to allow the use of both 'legacy' and new versions, and I have already submitted this to Product Management based on previous feedback.

I see the original Pro Tools Plan license deposited 10/13/2015 expired 1/20/2016. There was then a temp deposited then a replacement deposited 4/1/2016 (before the temp timed out) that's still valid, but that doesn't appear to be activated to your iLok. I'll look up your case to see if I can find more info, but in the mean time please activate the Pro Tools Plan that was deposited on 4/1 if you want to use the Space 12.1 plug-in.

Thanks, jeffro. I did as you suggested and, dang! I guess that license has been sitting there and I could have been using Space all this time. I don't recall being notified when this happened but I could have missed it. Well, now I have a few weeks to use it before I have to decide on re-upping my plan.

Good question. I don't find it anywhere. I'll kick this up, but in the meantime 11.2.2 should work just fine for you.
