Is now the time to move to 002?
I've been using an 001 for 5 years. Its served me well but now I see quite a few used 002's on the market for in around a thousand dollars Canadian. I would like to avail myself of some of the new features of protools beyond 6.4.
Right now I using a a dual 1.3 g4. I will upgrade at some time but I'm assuming I can run an 002 with this box My big question is if I buy an 002 now will it soon be a legacy piece of gear? It irked me that 001's were abandoned but given changing PCI architecture I can kinda understand. I'm assuming the firewire protocol will make the 002 somewhat obsolete proof at least for the next few years? Does anyone have any info as to when the 002 will be superceded? Any thoughts? B
