Well, maybe M-Audio is just being cautious, my firewire 410 seems to work just fine. I am playing a session with about 10 audio tracks, several with AIR plugs, and a handful of other plugins. So far so good. Works with iTunes as well. Will test further this weekend and report back.

I also use the 410 on a MacBook Pro

Would you mind listing your driver version number?

Thanks

I wouldn't update to SL at all now!
There is no performance gain in Logic 9 right now (sorry, I couldn't run PT-MP) and I don't see any reason to upgrade for audio production.

back to topic:
PT runs in SL already, but I guess what we all want are 64bit versions of our audio hosts including plugins. Will that ever happen for PT?

Protools in 64bit? Not before 2015... when Ableton, cubase & co. run in 256bit already.

No problem. In addition, I am going to have to go out on a limb here and say that, for me anyway, it seems to be more stable judging by the lack of any errors and the fact that the cpu meter seems less jumpy.

I used to get errors all the time running Superior 2.0 at 128 buffer. Today it recorded for over 15 minutes with no errors, and my son was playing mini grand along with me. I had it set at 1 processor, 99%, 128 buffer, with the default DAE settings.

Anyway, after some more time this weekend I will check back in to see if my initial impressions hold true.

Thanks for the update really appreciate it.

Did you do anything special to install the 410 driver?

Thanks

I didn't do anything, it was already installed on leopard, and it still worked after the upgrade. I did disconnect everything from my MBP during the upgrade, did all the reboots and then connected everything and fired it up.

yeah, shame digidesign hasn't tailored the software for that sort of processing yet, when the intel core processor is such a standard now...

someday.
