TD99 - also see reply above from JRV. I could not try that since I had already manually wiped 2020 from my system.

Not sure if this is useful or not but when reinstalling the video engine go into the public/public doucments folder and change the name of the Avid Video Engine folder to Avid Video Engine_Backup and when the video engine re-installs it will re-create this folder. This problem is an install failure.

+1. I've solved so many problems by doing this that now I always uninstall and clean up before installing a new version.
This cannot be over-emphasized for Windows machines. It prevents all sorts of wierd issues from happening.

I tried fully uninstalling everything before giving 2020.5 a try. Uninstall Pro Tools 2019.12, then uninstall all of the other pieces it does not uninstall... then reboot and install 2020.5. I get the same exact video/display/GUI corruption - the screen becomes unusable/unreadable - after bouncing a mix (actually during the bounce it starts). So frustrated. Avid support was useless when I tried to report it. Kept asking me to send samples of my video files - to which I repeatedly told them I was not using any... only audio or MIDI! uggh.

but at least the earlier tip on how to uninstall worked (using the "old" control panel).

Uninstalling Pro Tools 2019.12

Before uninstalling Pro Tools 2019.12, this worked for me:
Renamed this Pro Tools Folder in
C:\Users\Username\Documents\Pro Tools
Renamed it:
C:\Users\Username\Documents\Proof Cools
Moved all my Avid stock plug-ins from:
C:\Program Files\Common Files\Avid\Audio\Plug-Ins
To:
C:\Program Files\Common Files\Avid\Audio\Plug-Ins (Unused)

Clicked on “Publisher” up top in Windows Programs & Features, to show all Avid products together.
Uninstalled everything Avid which came installed by default:
Pro Tools 2019.12
Avid HD Driver
Avid Video Engine
Avid Link
Avid Cloud Client Services
Avid Codecs LE
Avid Effects
FB360 Spatial Workstation AAX
Falcon

Ran CCleaner as well as CCleaner Registry (chose the Save Backup option) then restarted computer.

Installed Pro Tools 2020.5 and Falcon 2.0.7 then restarted computer.

Moved the contents from:
C:\Users\Username\Documents\Pro Tools
To the same Folder in:
C:\Users\Username\Documents\Proof Cools
Deleted this now empty Folder:
C:\Users\Username\Documents\Pro Tools
Renamed this Folder:
C:\Users\Username\Documents\Proof Cools
Called it:
C:\Users\Username\Documents\Pro Tools

Right-clicked on ProTools Application in:
C:\Program Files\Avid\Pro Tools
Selected: Properties then the Compatibility Tab
Ticked the box that says “Run this program as an administrator
Hit Apply then hit OK

Restarted computer

Launch Pro Tools 2020.5

For others who require the 2020.5 Avid Video Engine, right-click on it from:
C:\Program Files\Avid\Pro Tools\Pro Tools Utilities\Avid Video Engine
Select: Properties then the Compatibility Tab
Tick the box that says “Run this program as an administrator
Hit Apply then hit OK

Install Avid Video Engine

Restart computer
Launch Pro Tools 2020.5, holding down “N” key to open the Playback Engine window, tick the Avid Video Engine box.
