Masterlist error messages
I'm having increasing problems with masterlist in two areas.
The first indication of a problem is that some of the error and problem messageswill not display properly on screen. I will get the box with the hands up but not any text inside them. I'm also getting random dropping of link between masterlist and the sound drives. theCould not aquire sound ...... message, well I'm assuming it is cos it doesn't always screen. sofar I have completwely installed Masterlist twice, upgraded to the 2.1.2 version and not to see if that makes a difference. deleted asmany preferencesasI can see relating to digi andsound, no luckon any of it. Any pointers on how to fix this problem? Cheers Rob |

Re: Masterlist error messages
Sounds like an OS problem, since it's having trouble drawing dialogs.
Have you been able to run any diagnostics on the system? It would even be worth installing a clean OS onto another drive and booting from that to see if the problem persists. ------------------ Jeff Cohen Digidesign Tech Support

Re: Masterlist error messages
what sort of diagnostic tests can I do on my system?
I have recently upgraded to system 9 which I think was a bad idea, and I'm going to go back to system 8.5as soon as I get a chance. The dialog box problems happened before though, on system 8.5 so I don't know what the problem is on that. I have run nortons system info and it says everything is pretty standard. The program keeps losing connection to the output devices. I'll be setting up a masterlist file and hit play and it will work ok, then acouple of mins later it will give me the "could not allocate sound output devicefor play back" message. Pro tools is not open or any other program and it was already talking to the out put device (which is a ADAT interface) And I'm stillgetting my burn errors when trying to burn from the audio drive (SCSII) instead of the hard drive (ide) Is this something that I shouldn't be trying?? Re: Masterlist error messages
just switched back to system 8.5 and it hasn't fixed the problem with theerror messages screening.
The second one doesn't come up, just ablank one. I know it has said could not play back but it doesn't come up. I'm still getting the can't allocate output drivers when Protools and masterlist are open. I clicked operate recording in background but it doesn't make any difference. I talked to the local agents and they didn't think you could have two programs using the same digi sound hardware, which in this case is an ADAT interface bridge. cheers Rob |

Re: Masterlist error messages
I have the same problem with the "Could Not Access Sound Driver..."
error. It most often happens after I have been using Protools and then have quit protools and gone over to use masterlist. It will play the first 2 or three files when selecting them and then stop & give the message... Quiting masterlist and reopening masterlist often solves the problem or sometimes it will hang after a few file plays. If you Restart the computer and use masterlist by itself it usually plays fine. I have a 9600/twin 200Mp and system 9.0 & 8.5.1 256Kram, 2940UW, Glyph/Seagate Cheatah drives, Glyph ferric bead cables, Sony 948CDR & Yamaha CDR100, PT5.0 & 4.3.1 Reduced extension sets. Glenn |

Re: Masterlist error messages
delphypop,
I have seen other posts regarding the "could not acquire hardware..." error after using Pro Tools but have never been able to reproduce this behavior in-house. What kind of Digi Cards are you using? Which version of Pro Tools are you running? In the meantime, try disabling "Active In Background" (Operations menu) within Pro Tools, quit and launch MLCD to see if there are still problems acquiring the hardware. In addition, you may also want to switch the Sound Output in the Sound Control Panel to "Built-In" instead of Digidesign. Brent |
