Mac OSX 8.0.5 HANGS MACHINE HARD!

In preparation for the ERXP, I'm trying to install Mac OSX 8.0.5.

After taking a while to find the actual download on the Avid site, I've installed it. Rebooted my machine.

CRAP. 8.0.5 launches and complains that No support Video HW is found. Yes, my 11R is connected.

Then the launched app then complains that "Video engine failed to initialize". The machine goes into spinning beach ball. User processes PEGGED. System processes PEGGED. Mouse is a bitch to get it to respond. Jerky mouse over and force quit the app.

Wash, rinse, repeat.

Guess what - I don't give a darn about video - I just want the ERXP.

CRAP. Not off to a good start from a completely STABLE 8.0.1

Looks like during my install I got this warning:

/System/Library/Extentions/PACESupportFamily.kext was installed improperly and cannot be used. Please try reinstalling it, or contact the product's vender for an update.

Hmm... getting Info on PACESupportFamily.kext in that directory tells me it's something to do with copy protection.

Is this a Digi/Avid file that their installer installed incorrectly?

Well, after several reboots, things have sorted themselves out. I don't know what happened.

Bring on the ERXP!

Cool! Glad you got it sorted out. Most likely you had an older version of PACE on the machine (perfectly valid when you first installed it)...

Anyway, 8.0.5 has been very solid. 2 more days...
