Mac 10.5.8
Hi,
I have an iMac with 2 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, Memory: 1 GB 667 MHz DDR2 SDRAM. I would like to erase the hard drive on this computer and re-install original OS to get it nice and clean and use it only for Pro Tools. Do you have a suggestion which version I should install? I read that 9 may work but there was the word "aluminum' in there so got confused... Thanks very much and cheers. |

Re: Mac 10.5.8
Pro Tools 9 was only qualified with 10.6.x:
Compatibility & Upgrade Information for Pro Tools on Mac (linked from the compatibility shortcut at the top of the forum) And linked from that page... You can find all of the versions of Pro Tools LE that were qualified with 10.5.x here: Pro Tools LE for Mac OS X Compatibility & Upgrade Information |

Re: Mac 10.5.8
Thanks, Bruce. Looks like 8 will work. Man, I don't even know if I should be doing this...is it more trouble than it's worth?
I'm kinda going back in time aren't I? The nice LaCie firewire hard drive I'm using in conjuction with my MacBook Pro (with Protools Express on it) I've been using for the past few months (I'm a newbie) probably won't even work with this iMac... I was just hoping to use this older computer as a dedicated desktop solution for my music needs, instead of always making/breaking connections to my MacBook Pro (I use it for other stuff besides music)...a pain (but workable). Still, maybe it is worth it...and I'm being greedy? How many of you guys are cooking away with this kind of "old" set up (ie Mac Leopard, Protools 8). Do you have a recommended external drive for it? Lots of questions here. Thanks for your time. |
