Sync HD issue

I am using an Evertz MSC5600 as the house sync/time code generator feeding Tri-level and LTC to various video equipment and the Sync HD. The Sync HD then outputs word clock to a Big Ben, which distributes clock to my interfaces (Apogee AD16x and DA16x with the X card), and to my Venue console.

The system is absolutely stable during normal operation, but once Pro Tools closes, the Sync HD changes its clock reference to loop sync and outputs at 35.42 KHz. Normal functionality is restored by re-selecting Video Ref as the clock reference on the front panel. When launching Pro Tools, everything operates as expected, the problem only occurs when Pro Tools is closed.

The Sync HD firmware is current (221), and just to be sure, I successfully pushed it again. No change.

Any ideas?

This is the way it is. I was asking AVID to change this before the SYNC HD existed. Unfortunately they didn't change it.

Unfortunate, indeed. Thanks for the info.

Do you happen to know if there is a reason for this that I am not comprehending, or is it a bug in the firmware?

Can you feed the same clock to the video in as the word clock so when it looks for the other input it has the same source? I'm gonna try it..... The sync io didn't have this problem.
Two weeks later....
( i tried this and it confuses the system. Sadly by going back to using a Sync IO the system behaves better! Ive been told that the Sync IO will stop working w pt 11 so I'm hoping they change the Sync Hd default behavior before i switch to 11.
