Default Cleaning HDX card

A bit of an odd one. Took my HDX card out of my old Mac Pro today, to move it to the new one. It's pretty dusty – dust is caked on the chips. I gave the fan a bit of a blow (actually removed the fan housing and cleaned underneath it, thank goodness I didn't destroy the card!). Any tips for giving it a deeper clean?

(I also wonder with the new Mac's airflow design whether the card might cool better without the fan housing...)

Removing visible dust is all you need to do

Compressed air will sort it out pretty quickly. Bunnings & Officeworks sell 'em for a good two or three times the price of WD40, or other petroleum based products that have been mined out of the ground and heavily processed... but a can of it is a handy thing to have around.

Fortunately a trip to Bunnings still counts as essential! 😉
