Stopping Pro Tools opening all MIDI ports
I would like to stop ProTools 11 from opening a particular MIDI input and output so that something else can connect to these MIDI ports (The reasons I need to do this are a bit complicated - I'm a plugin developer).
I can't find a way... Unselecting the MIDI input in MIDI options doesn't help and there doesn't even seem to be an option for choosing MIDI outputs. In Cubase and Live etc there are preferences which let you choose which MIDI ports the DAW will use, but I can't find a similar thing in ProTools. This problem is specific to Windows as on Mac multiple programs can connect to a single MIDI port without problem. |

Re: Stopping Pro Tools opening all MIDI ports
All I can think of is to disable the midi device or leave it unplugged when you boot protools. Enable after. Yes Sonar does have a comprehensive panel for that. Logic for PC had a simple win.ini file you could edit.

Re: Stopping Pro Tools opening all MIDI ports
Seems like something the SDK should have.

Re: Stopping Pro Tools opening all MIDI ports
Thanks for the replies! For the record: I've been in touch with Avid and it seems that we are going to have to make a change to ProTools to make this work.
[ soybalm: Unfortunately the 'leaving it unplugged' solution doesn't work because there are two ports, one which we want ProTools to connect to and one which we don't. ] |
